Dress Code: Fall/Winter 2025

In “The Answer,” more than ten pounds of silver jewelry (Cuban links, paper clip chains, and rope chains) cascade into a net that is both ornamental and weighty, a gleaming statement of presence. The work pays tribute to Allen Iverson, whose rise from the streets to league superstardom introduced an unapologetic new aesthetic that redefined the culture of basketball. His embrace of chains, tattoos, and individuality unsettled the NBA’s carefully curated image, leading directly to a dress code that sought to regulate appearance on and off the court. As one of the most unapologetically defiant pieces in the series, the silver net resists containment, embodying Iverson’s legacy as a cultural icon who transformed style into power, and authenticity into luxury.

Dress Code: Fall/Winter 2025 is a couture-inspired series of chain basketball nets that reframe the history of style in the NBA as a story of discipline, rebellion, and spectacle. Each net marks a shift in how players navigated appearance and identity under the league’s evolving rules, tracing a lineage from Darryl Dawkins’ gold chains to Russell Westbrook’s front-row presence at Paris Fashion Week.

Together these nets reveal how the court has always been more than a site of sport. It is a stage where identity is contested, rules are enforced, and self-expression finds ways to shine through.

*Each sculpture incorporates reclaimed and archival chains and elements sourced from Lover’s Tempo Jewelry.
