Dress Code: Fall/Winter 2025

In “The Dandy,” pearls tangle with light gold chains and cascades of pink and cream tassels, creating a net that is layered, extravagant, and deliberately over-the-top. The piece speaks to a new generation of players, figures like Russell Westbrook, who transform the NBA’s dress code into a canvas for ingenuity, styling identity within the very rules meant to contain it. Flamboyant and gender-bending, Westbrook embodies this spirit both on and off the court, appearing in the front rows of fashion shows beside icons like Anna Wintour, where sport and couture collide. Closer to runway than uniform, the net revels in its excess, where every drape and detail insists on being seen. More than playful adornment, “The Dandy” celebrates self-expression as spectacle, proof that even within boundaries, style can flourish wildly and without restraint.

Dress Code: Fall/Winter 2025 is a couture-inspired series of chain basketball nets that reframe the history of style in the NBA as a story of discipline, rebellion, and spectacle. Each net marks a shift in how players navigated appearance and identity under the league’s evolving rules, tracing a lineage from Darryl Dawkins’ gold chains to Russell Westbrook’s front-row presence at Paris Fashion Week.

Together these nets reveal how the court has always been more than a site of sport. It is a stage where identity is contested, rules are enforced, and self-expression finds ways to shine through.

*Each sculpture incorporates reclaimed and archival chains and elements sourced from Lover’s Tempo Jewelry.
